Why masoor dal is prohibited

To understand this you have to know about you have to understand the Hindu diet system. The Hindu diet system was designed as per people’s working profile. and the food kept in this diet are also chosen by it’s nature and after effect of food. there is a popular saying .Jaisa khaiye aan wessa hoga Mann.( it mean that your food affects your thought) There are three type of diet 1. Satvik bhojan 2. Rajshik bhojan 3. Tamsik bhojan. So lets break down this diets.

Saatvik Bhojan

Saatvik bhojan is a diet system for Priest and Rishi sadhak or other people who have some spiritual goal. That why this diet has all the natural ingredients like fruit, dairy, fresh vegetables and a little grain. People on this diet are strictly prohibited to eat food like. Meat, fish, egg, and tamsik foods like onion, garlic, lentils/masoor.

Rajashik bhojan

Rajshik bhojan is designed for people willing to live a luxurious life. Like a king and there clan and businessman. This diet has not meat or fish in it. But it rich foods if I can give you an example for the present time then it’s included. Pizza, and burger, etc. And this diet has included tamsik things like onion garlic and lentils. They prepare dishes by there own choice and they can use them if required.

Tamsik Bhojan

This diet of warriors and monsters.the meaning of word tamsik is anger. Tamsik bhojan includes all food that increases the anger and power of the body. And regularly eating this type of food can harm our body. Tamsik foods not recommended for common people. Because eating meat egg lentils will give you more protein than your requirement. Rather than this, they are recommended to eating a balanced diet. Which fulfills all nutritional requirements. That’s why the tamsik thing like meat, fish, egg, onion, garlic, and lentils are prohibited for the common man.

Now you can understand why masoor dal is prohibited in Hinduism. But if you are a non-vegetarian guy. Or you have no such spiritual goals and want to eat lentils to fulfill your protein requirements. Then you can easily eat lentils and enjoy there is no such issue. Or you can choose from other dals like moong dal and chana dal its totally on you.

Why masoor dal is non-veg

The reason behind this is a story from ancient times. there was a Rish called Jamdagni Rishi has a sacred cow named kamdhenu. People say that kamdhenu can full fill all desires of his owner. that why the ruler of that time Sahastrarjun wants to steal kamdhenu from Jamdagni Rishi. But hi can’t. so hi attacked in the Ashram of rishi and in this attack kamdhenu got injured and believe is that where the blood of kamdhenu fell the masoor dal grew from that place. that’s. Why some people consider eating masoor is bad and compare it with meat.
